Kinglake Overview

Overlooking the Melbourne skyline to the south west, Kinglake is surrounded by farmland and the forests of Kinglake National Park. Gold mining, timber milling and potato growing are the industries that sustained the Kinglake community up until the 1980’s when the population began to rise due to the proximity of the encroaching metropolitan fringe. The town was one of the worst affected areas during the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.
