Eildon Overview

Originally constructed to house workers during the construction of Eildon Dam in the 1950’s, the township’s recreational potential was recognised early and provisions were made for boating, fishing and picnicking on the shores. Tourism is still the major industry in Eildon today with up to 30,000 fishing and engaging in water sports around the region. It is also a popular retirement destination.
